Upper Hunter Family Support Service

Upper Hunter Family Support Service is a free service with a focus on strengthening and supporting families. We support parents and carers with children in their care up to the age of 17 years. Our workers will listen to your needs and provide your family with guidance, encouragement and strategies to make your own decisions.

Family Support can provide a range of support to families with dependant children. Support may include parenting education, court support, financial information, referrals, home visits, support letters, group work, assistance and/or advocacy with Centrelink, Social Housing Providers and education facilities and even support clients to reduce their State Debt.

Family Support facilitate a variety of free community programs including specific skills groups and social support groups:
  • Walks for Wellness

  • Spring Cleaning

  • Fun Time Playgroup
Family Support Group Programmes available:

  • Circle of Security: 8 session relationship based programme enhancing attachment and security between parents and children

  • Shark Cage: 8 session domestic violence awareness programme

  • Group Triple P: an 8 week Positive Parenting Program

  • 123 Magic & Emotion Coaching: Aimed at parents with children between the ages of 2-12 yrs

  • Engaging Adolescents: Aimed at parents with teenagers
